First reported by FSElites’ Seth Ainsley, Orbx Simulation Systems has developed and released a global buildings and structures infrastructure upgrade for the Lockheed Martin Prepar 3D Version 4 and the Microsoft Flight Simulator X (F.S.X.) flight simulator platforms.
One would naturally think that the generic building and structure infrastructure would be responsibly and reasonably maintained by the base flight simulator developer and manufacture, Lockheed Martin.
None the less…….
Anyone or any entity wanting to provide finance and invest in supplemental funding, and/or is compelled to do so, for a global buildings and structures visual updates now has an turn key option.
The recently released “Global Buildings HD” provides 4K (4,096 x 4,096 pixels) resolution visual textures for all autogenerated (also known as “Autogen“) scenery in the Lockheed Martin Prepar 3D Version 4 or Microsoft Flight Simulator X (F.S.X.).
The Legendary flight simulator scenery designer Bill Womack has worked on this product by “completely overhauling over 400 3D structure models in the default building 3D library.”
The project was Spearheaded and Championed by Scott Armstrong (presumably no relation to American Astronaut Neil Armstrong, the first human man to set foot and bipedal walk on Earth’s only Moon), the lead developer. Mr. Armstrong traveled to twelve separate counties to shoot photographs and obtain drone rooftop photography. The direct “on–location source photos” are identically matched for each region (e.g. America’s, South America, Europe, Middle East, Asia, Africa), providing regionally relevant buildings and structures. With over three years of work, Scott “painstakingly” and meticulously overhauled 3,860 individual building textures with his newly acquired on–location source photos.
A complete day and night texture set is included in the upgrade package.
The product download size is 1.7 GigaBytes (GB).
The user manual can be viewed by clicking here.
The price is an estimated $24.54 United States Dollars (U.S.D.) based on the $34.95 Australian Dollar (AU.D.), or and estimated 21.55 EUR, 19.33 British Pounds.
